FRESH MUSIC: OLUWASEGUN - NO BE MOUTH


Oluwasegun Jacob popularly known as Oluwasegun of Mife-Mo Entertainment, formally signed to Rich Rockers Records [RRR] has been in the music industry for a long time.
After his previous album NO DODGIN under the label Rich Rockers Records, he has proven to be relevant in the industry as he has decided to step up his game.
In 2005 he received an award from GTBank and Dare Art Alade in Pontopia, at Aja on the track “Olomoge”, in December same year he also received a cheque from GTB (Undisclosed Amount). They also hosted him, 9ice, Da Grin and others underground at Planet On, which was his first experience.
Oluwasegun is back again with his smashing new singles NO BE MOUTH, a track that will definitely get you in the dancing mood.

She was born on the 28th September 1989. She has hit the music scene over the last 6-months and her first single/video “I love the way” from the album Man-Zomi was shot in Ghana on the 28th September 2011 and released in October 2011.

Tinka Tinka is her 2nd single to be released from the album. The video was shot by Patrick Elis in Lagos on the 28th April 2012 and released on 28th May 2012.

She plans to cut her next single ‘More’ in the UK which is the last before her album release. She plans to travel to Jamaica and work with some known Ragga artists and then the US to complete her plans for 2012.

About Kahli Abdu

As part of the growing scene of artists in Jos, Kahli Abdu started his journey in 1996, becoming part of the group "11:30", later becoming "Eltophelli" (together with Jesse Jagz, now of Chocolate City Records) in 2006.
Kahli then moved to the U.S in 2005 and met with Chief Willis (of Basement Batman) and later with producer Kid Konnect. With the beats they provided, Kahli recorded several songs, which ended up, on his first mixtape "The Grind Theory". A few years later, he put together his second mixtape "Ministry of Corruption", and shortly after, he started and compiled his "Rebel Friday" Season 1.

Kahli has worked closely with other artists like M.I (Illegal Music, MI2, Illegal Music 2) and others. He is also the founder of the Republiq Records label and under the label, would be looking to progress in the music industry, as well as produce, manage and collaborate with other artists.

VIDEO: Loose Kaynon - Pass The Mic


Loose Kaynon, born Joachim Ikazoboh, on the 14th of June 198*, Loose Kaynon is a rap phenomenon who epitomises the true essence of the Nigerian mentality, which is “success against all odds”.  He spent his childhood life in a military based environment in the ‘Crocodile’ city (Kaduna) before moving to Lagos to pursue a university education, which he juggled effortlessly with his budding musical career. Loose is by far one of the most versatile rap acts on the Lagos circuit and is pretty popular on the underground Nigerian hip hop scene - an intelligent lyricist, that is as comfortable riding on a commercial beat as he is throwing punch lines on the more underground beats.

MUSIC: I’m More Than A Rap Star - CocoIce


Prolific song writer, recording artiste and a performer Mojisola Serah Sowole aka “CocoIce” is a maverick in the rap music world.  This rhymester delved into the rap game by rapping and miming songs of popular international rap star such as Heavy D, 2pac, Nas, Puff Daddy, Mase, Missy Elliot, Erick Sermon and Lil kim. She’s not only an ordinary rapper but a lyricist who knows how to play around with words, metaphors and idioms as she has been exhibited in her songs.

Getting encouraging remarks from people who see her miming to hit tunes, she decided to get serious and put pen to paper, writing her own rhymes and songs. Her foray into the music industry saw her hooking up with veteran producer OJB Jezreel’s owned production company, Point Beats and the ace producer hooked her up with Jo’Kaynie who produced her first single, “Get Nutty” featuring May D who’s now signed to P-Square’s Square Records. “Get Nutty” enjoyed heavy rotations on various radio stations and was a club favourite amongst top DJs across the country.

 She has done a lot of freelance recording with producers /artiste such as Jo’Kaynie, OJB Jezreel, Xtac, Black Solo, Free style amongst many others. 

In 2009, she met with the late legend DaGrin, with his assistance; CocoIce was able to hone her Yoruba rap skills thereby allowing her to express her lyrics in a way she feels comfortable with and at the same time embracing her much rich culture and dialect. This was like an added advantage for her because Nigerians now appreciate songs rendered in artistes’ mother tongue.


Fast forward to 2012. The highly talented rapper, who has been working so hard in the studio, cooking up hit songs, is ready to storm the Nigerian music scene with the official release of the song “If U Don’t Know” a remake of the late rap star, DaGrin’s hit song “Pon Pon Pon” which will be dropped in a few weeks time. According to her, she did the song to pay tribute to the late rap star and also to show people her versatility. The video for the song which is been produced by the young and talented director Aina Mathew aka Matt Max will surely blow your mind as it’s something totally different and fresh. After its release, the song will be available for downloads on all major music sites.

CocoIce who is currently under the management of ‘Biodun Caston-Dada owned MAGiC Entertainment is an eclectic fashionista. Aside her been a beautiful and stylish rap artiste, she also model part-time. She is also taking lessons in playing of musical instruments which she believe will help her in her performances and recordings as she is set to be more than a Rap star. According to her, “I’m out to set a high standard and separate myself from the band wagons. As a good artiste irrelevant of the genre of music you play, you must be able to play at least a musical instrument; this is why I’m working so hard by learning the guitar, keyboards and drums”, she stated.

CocoIce has shared the stage with top acts like Mode 9, Sage, Late Dagrin, Minjin, T. Code, etc.

CocoIce sure knows how to wake the party up with her club banging hits, so expect fun party raps that'll give you a work out like a game of twister. Get ready 'cos CocoIce will be bringing the party straight to your feetz.

Presented in assocation with 17-17 AudioLaB and Crynesis Designs, and proudly supported by Club X and  TowerGate Records,  this new project will see the rap  doctor take more of the production/engineering helm, while bringing a slew of highly talented artists on board for the ride.

Says the music doctor:

"Basically, the core idea [of #Escapology] is to express my creative yearnings in the music prduction
aspect of things by showcasing what can happen when highly skilled artistry meets up-to-date, pro-
fessional production/engineering paradigms. So every month, on the first monday, which we will tag #Escapology
Mondays, premiering in May 2012, we will drop a fresh new joint, produced by me and starring the vocal prowess of
an artist or artists with proven credibility in the game."

Rappers  Benjani, real name - Bettobong Benjamin is currently studying Geography at the University of Calabar, teams up with Ayology, Graduate of physiology at The University Of Calabar, a massive fan of Modenine and Jay Z as both rappers feast on Soulja boi's 'speakers going hammer' instrumental' on this song titled 'The Takeover.

The Takeover is a nice joint blessed with mad punchlines from both rappers. 
Produced by Dr. Xlik, both artistes are looking to do a joint mixtape.

Rizzz whose real name is Doris Ukwade is an eccentric and passionate female artiste who is bent on making music that would inspire and influences the life of others.

Born and bred in Delta, she moved to Lagos in 2003 to pursue a music career. She has being passionate about the music from a very young age, she started from the choir and discovered herself early enough but she waited this long to debut simply because – in her words ‘I believe that what’s worth doing at all is worth doing well’.

She started with a live band, before she moved on to record her first studio song in 2004. A polished female artiste from the several nights in the studio, honing her craft as a singer, Rizzz has released a couple of singles and has shot two videos. She just won the plaque for the best raggae act at the Hype Awards 2012.

She is currently working on her debut album, still untitled..  Here’s the visuals of  ‘Money maker’, directed by IBen.
